Create your Retreat at The MTA

Welcome to The Mission For Temporal Art!

We are an organization dedicated to time-based art. Founded at the beginning of 2014 by audio-visual artist David Linton and performing artist Claire Elizabeth Barratt, our mission is to foster the development and presentation of performing, cinematic, sound and other forms of art that deal with temporality and depend upon the essence of time.

We are situated in a century-old Methodist Church building on the Main Street of historic downtown Marshall NC.
This rich regional setting provides the natural beauty of the Southern Appalachian Mountains and the French Broad River, plus the traditions of music, crafts and story-telling passed down through generations and which are still a vital part of the modern community today.

We are pleased to offer our space to artists and groups as a Retreat Center for workshops and project development. It is ideal for dance and theater rehearsal, as well as being a stimulating environment for sound and video projects plus other forms of experimental performance and media development.
